MAdventuring – Holland, MA
A lovely day for a drive to Holland, Massachusetts. The wild roses were in full bloom and their scent was thick along Central Turnpike and the back roads of Massachusetts and Connecticut. We checked out trails around Lake Siog, saw some beaver chewed trees, turtles, and fishermen. Then drove around and found the locals beach along a dirt road on the other side of the lake, also known as Holland Pond and East Brimfield Lake.
On the way back we stopped at a rookery in a swampy spot along Central Turnpike in Uxbridge. A rookery? A breeding ground for birds. In this case, great blue herons (need to confirm that, but that’s what they looked like to me…).
